Some Fertility Remedies: The Quest is On

When looking for fertility remedies, it's wise to try the natural route first. Effective alternative fertility remedies range from acupuncture and yoga to fertility herbs and lifestyle adjustments. Many couples have experienced great success with these fertility remedies, and trying them as a first step may mean you don't have to turn to the medical option. Higher success is often achieved by combining two or more natural fertility remedies.

Surgery may be done in the case of obstructed fallopian tubes, to open or remove them. Surgery also may be done to remove growths like fibroids or polyps, remove scarring from previous surgery or infection, or to treat endometriosis. But surgery, while usually helpful, doesn't guarantee an end to infertility. It's important to remember that correcting fertility problems sometimes takes time and may require multiple treatments.

Sometimes the problems a couple experiences with conception are inexplainable, and in many of those cases, intra-uterine insemination is the first attempt at treatment. Married couples experience a 15% success rate per cycle using IUI with fertility drugs. To decrease the chance of infections, and to increase the chance of fertilization, the sperm are usually treated in a lab. The sperm will be placed into the uterus around the time of ovulation in time for her egg(s) to be fertilized.

There are 2 treatments, similar to one another, that may be used for women who have specific cervical conditions. During gamete intrafallopian transfer (GIFT) eggs and sperm are inserted together in the fallopian tube using laparoscopy and fertilization may result. The second is zygote intrafallopian transfer (ZIFT), which involves the eggs being fertilized in a lab before transferring to a woman's fallopian tube. These treatments can result in the same uncomfortable side effects as ovulation medications and IVF, and are more expensive.

Despite a tendency for many people to opt for high tech methods like IVF or IUI, a growing number of married couples are also trying alternative and natural ways to improve their chances of conceiving a child. Some of the many lifestyle changes you can make to help your fertility include changes to your diet, exercise, acupuncture, and yoga. When taking into consideration the expense, the invasive medical procedures, in addition to the risks involved, it makes sense to make any available natural options your first choice.

During a lab procedure like IVF (in vitro fertilization), sperm is used to fertilize the eggs, and the eggs are then deposited in the uterus to grow. For the IVF procedure, the eggs are removed from an ovary with a needle just before ovulation. Among the possible side effects of IVF are ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome and pregnancy with multiple fetuses.

A lack of regular ovulation is a common cause of infertility, and accounts for around one fourth of all such cases. The medication used most repeatedly to solve ovulation problems is clomiphene citrate. If Clomid doesn't help then gonadotropins may be administered. Your doctor can help you make the best choices if or when these medications result in a multiple pregnancy.

Does the risk of cerebral palsy increase when the birth parents have undergone infertility treatment? According to some studies, there is a higher rate of children born with cerebral palsy among parents who have been treated for infertility. Human Reproduction recently published a study of nearly 590,000 Danish babies born from 1995 to 2003, which found that children conceived with the help ofinfertility treatment had double the risk of being diagnosed with cerebral palsy as children who were born in the conventional manner. Twins and triplets account for more than half of fertility treatment babies, and the rate of pre term deliveries for this group is higher than average, both factors of which could explain the greater rate of CP.
