Adding greens to you diet idea 1: make mixed meat-green burgers
If you are like me you probably like meat and meat products. I love burgers, so in looking for ways to add greens to my diet, I came up with the idea of preparing burgers with a mix of greens and meat. It may sound strange but it actually tastes good. Choose your green ( I use spinach, but you could use green squash or chard or zucchini), wash it thoroughly, let it dry. Then cut the greens in very small pieces with the help of a knife. Mixed with minced meat. Then form the Burger patty by hand or if you have a special piece of kitchen equipment to do patties use it as you would with regular minced meat. You could cook your greens first. Let it cool down, press it (to eliminate excess water, and then mix it with meat. Either way it will work out but I prefer to use my greens raw in making burgers. You could also use carrots, dried tomatoes, and other vegetables.
Adding greens to you diet idea 2: explore stir-fry preparations
You probably have eaten at Chinese restaurants and you know that they stir-fry a lot. Stir-frying can be challenging at first but is an excellent way to add greens to your diet. You can do any mix you want and you can stir fry vegetables only or mix with meat, chicken, shrimp or tofu. It is up to you what to stir fry. Traditional stir-frying is done on a wok but I good old skillet will do the job. Stir frying involve cooking (frying actually) at high temperatures for short periods of time. There is a technique of cooking things in a certain order for correct stir frying so it will depend on your particular mix. Start with meats and cook it. Then place apart and cook your hard vegetables (onions for example) and place apart. Then cook other greens (spinach for example). Finally mix everything and give it a few seconds of cooking constantly mixing. Serve it on a big plate. There you have your greens!!!
Adding greens to you diet idea 3: add greens to your pasta
Pasta is an excellent way to add greens to yur diet. This will work for kids too. Just cook any green vegetable or any vegetable and added to your cooked pasta. You could add spinanch, kale, green peppers, red peppers, zucchini, etc. You name it and you can add it to pasta. Add some good olive oil and parmesan cheese and you have a very good way (an tasty) to add greens to your diet.
There you have it some ideas to add greens to your diet. I hope you give them a try and if you have your own ideas please leave it as a comment, or better, write tehm in an article here at associatedcontent.com
