Some Insomniac, Waiting

there and it's not like i'm
counting the minutes, the
seconds till time stops
the turnaround speeding
up slowing down, washing the windows
the glass streaky cloud stretching
there is another time

we have all of it that there is
but
now
elasticity, stretching out
miles are forever and now is a
long pause, a drawn-in breath
waiting, the holding on
sigh out, the ever is
curled up inside the trickery
watching us
slowing down, each step a world
of its own

we are
tied up
down to the calendar
wrapped
up
stuck to the digital
numbers that change one red line at a time
and the hands on the old-fashioned clocks spin around
and the battery dies
in my watch
and my cell phone is lost

moon
flies high, and there under it
we're locked tight.
