caught a little glimpse of it
got a little taste of this, once
when i was young, and not so jaded
not so small and nevermind
(this is where you roll your eyes
and mock my insecurity
my self-deprecating manner can get old
i know
it bugs me too)
and i under the moon and stars
grew restless in the dark
and made the sun
conjured it up
from mud and lust
and broken things
and bits of glass
tossed it high
watched it rise
felt the warmth, the burn
the rage
felt it fall
seared the skin off of my palms
when i caught it
flesh melted into wax
and built another
just like me
and walked away.
