Some Makeup Tips for Teen Girls Who Wear Glasses

Ruth Carter
As a young teenager, I had to adorn the lovely eyewear called glasses. While wearing glasses can pose a challenge for those who like to wear makeup, it can be done. This fall's makeup trends involve accentuating one facial feature (particularly the eyes or the lips) while toning down the rest and having an earthy, more subtle look for those of us who prefer to go "more natural" in our makeup choices. In this article, I will provide some makeup tips to consider if you wear glasses as well as to help you to be stylish in your fall look.

1. You are what you eat. Choose a diet that is loaded with fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and some lean meats, and drink lots of water. Good nutrition and hydration will help to give your skin and eyes a healthy, natural glow.

2. To accentuate your eyes, choose an eyeliner that is subtle and somewhat contrasts with the color of your eyes. For example, my eyes are green, so I would choose either a gray or even a navy color. Try to stay away from black eyeliner, for although it is quite dramatic, it tends not to go well when paired with glasses.

3. If you choose to use eye shadow, again choose colors that are subtle and go well with your eye color. When I wore eye shadow, I would use three colors: one for the lid, one for the crease, and one for the area right under the eyebrow. The lid color was usually purple, the crease gray, and the area below the eyebrow a light, subtle pink.

4. If you wish to use mascara, I recommend applying one that is clear. It will help to make your eyelashes more pronounced without putting mascara smudges on your lenses.

5. If you choose to wear lip gloss, choose a color that goes well with your skin tone. Burt's Bees has three wonderful lip shimmers and glosses that are affordable and come in a multitude of colors. Since I have a fair complexion, I personally choose the watermelon and rhubarb shades of the lip shimmer. These two provide enough color to enhance my skin tone without giving me a washed out appearance. Check out the different shades and see which one works best for you.

May you find these tips helpful. Have a wonderful fall season!
