If you're doing repairs and renovations around your home, there might be a good chance that you will need to remove wallpaper. Here are some quick and easy ways to get this job done. You will learn how to quickly and easily remove vinyl wallpaper, remove multiple layers of wallpaper, as well as removing strippable wallpaper. Get this job done fast so you can move on to other projects.

Remove vinyl wallpaper, wallpaper with no coating

Step One - First thing you will want to do to remove vinyl wallpaper is to apply a commercial stripper. Commercial stripper is usually sold in a concentrated form and is sold at most home improvement stores. Make sure that you use the manufacturer's guidelines and you use the proper amount of water. If you prefer, you can use a stripper with enzymes to help break down the adhesive. If you are using a liquid stripper or a roller for a gel, you will need to use a sprayer or a large sponge when applying. Always wear rubber gloves when applying stripper for safety reasons.

Step Two - When removing wallpaper, make sure that you start from the top and use a putty knife or any type of broad knife while you scrape the wallpaper gently. When you are scraping the wall to remove the wallpaper, make sure that you don't gouge the wall. If this happens, that means you will be doing a repair job on that wall later.

Remove multiple layers of wallpaper

Step One - First thing you need to do to remove multiple layers of wallpaper is to get busy scoring. Use a scoring tool to scrape through the layers so that later you can apply the stripper. This will make it easier for the stripper to get to the adhesive.

Step Two - Now you will apply the stripper to the wallpaper with a roller sponge or large hand sponge. Make sure that you allow the stripper to remain on the wallpaper for short period of time. About ten minutes later you may remove the paper with a putty knife or a broad knife. When the wallpaper has been removed, you will need to remove the excess adhesive residue left on the wall. You can do this by diluting the stripper and then wash the walls, and then finish by rinsing with clean water.

Remove strippable wallpaper

Step One - Using a putty knife, loosen the bottom of the wallpaper and then gently pull the paper from the loosened bottom end. The wallpaper should come off easily, but if not you will need to use stripper.

Step Two - With most strippable wallpaper, it will leave paper from the fabric mesh backing on the wall. This meshing will need to be removed. To do this, use a stripper solution to remove. Make sure that you follow the directions for removing wallpaper that has no coating.

Following these quick and easy methods for removing wallpaper, you will be able to remove vinyl wallpaper, multiple layers of wallpaper, and strippable wallpaper. Now you can either paint the walls your choice of color or add new wallpaper.
