Some Say Walmart Sucks, I Say Walmart.Com Does

Www.Walmart.Com Review

Carolyn Foster
Walmart is my favorite offline retailer...I love the ability to walk and shop for groceries and just about anything else I might need all at the same location. Where else can you get a haircut, order eyeglasses or contacts, have your family's portrait made, shop for the weekly groceries, pick up kitty litter, make an extra set of keys, get your tires rotated, and buy household or office supplies? With that being said, I can't stand walmart.com!! Maybe it is because our Walmarts are not that bad. I have been in some Savannah Walmarts that were just plain crazy! Dirty with crowded aisles, bad customer service, and long lines..I can see shopping online at Walmart in that case.

My Dislikes:

Mainly it is the high shipping charges. I can easily go to www.amazon.com and get free shipping on many items/orders over $25 or get free shipping with a prime membership. Why would I pay shipping if I can get it for free? Also their selection is very limited especially in children's clothing. Many that I wanted were out of stock especially the ones on sale! The free pick up option to your local Walmart store did me no good as every location where I lived did not have this option available. Good for some people but not for me! I also would like to know that something was not in stock before clicking on it, a waste of time to go through the sales items just to see out of stock, out of stock.

The Site:

The site is quick to load and easy to navigate. I love the pop-up pull down menus once you scroll over a topic like toys. So I can easily scoot over to riding toys!

You can sign up for emails on specials and sales. During Black Friday, the site is overloaded with people trying to get the special sale prices and sometimes it is very slow to load.

The site also has a free sample section...some are available to order online but some you do have to go into your local Walmart to pick them up. They have had lotions, deodorants, hair color, skin products, snacks, diapers, and more: all free!

If you have received a gift card, you can check your balance on the site and use the gift card ordering online. Gift cards are available for purchase.

Shipping Times & Costs :

My orders from walmart.com have always come within a week. The usual shipping time is 3-5 days but you can expedite this by paying more. I have never used the site to store free shipping but that takes 7-10 business days. Shipping costs vary depending on the weight of what you order and where you live. You will receive an email with a tracking number so you can track your shipment.

Return Policy:

I have never needed to return anything from walmart.com but you can return items to your local Walmart store or send it back. There are varying times and conditions whether your return will be accepted or not.

Wishlist and More:

I adore the wishlist options at www.walmart.com. I can easily make up a wishlist for what my daughter wants for her birthday and send it out to loved ones. Then they can order and it will be shipped directly to us...less cost in shipping the items twice! A baby and wedding registry is available and what is nice is that they will give you lists of the most popular wedding gifts and more!

The Items:

Just as Walmart, walmart.com has tons of items to choose from: clothing, household furnishings, toys, books, video games, music, digital camera, health care products, and so much more! I have purchased books and clothing from Walmart.com and been happy with my selections...not so happy paying the shipping costs as Amazon has me spoiled.

Customer Service:

You can only email or mail customer service, you could also contact your local Walmart too. When I emailed a question, they responded the next day through email.

Final Say:

Just about the last place online that I look when I am in the market for something....after paying shipping, the costs seem too high in most cases. The kids' clothing selection also could be more fruitful! They do have great sales during the year so it does make up for the shipping costs sometimes on www.walmart.com.
