Sunlight
It is the dead of night right now
as I sit to pen this prose.
Tomorrow when I awake and see sunlight
I'll wonder what I did last night
when I was so indisposed.
I'll hear laughter I've not heard before
tomorrow when I awake and see the sunlight.
I'll notice all things bright and beautiful
that I never saw before.
Why, you ask?
I can not say for sure
but one would only guess
I have seen the sunlight pure
and unaffected by earth's gray tones
and smober lulling of anguish's groans.
Tomorrow will be a sunny day
and shine the sun will do.
Until a smile comes over me
and I spread that smile to you.
Night Lights
I lay still once in my bed.
I look over and gaze through the window,
there I see the darkness outside.
Until a flicker I notice.
The flicker of the night lights,
The stars of heaven above.
I know that my creator is near,
and I can sleep in peace.
The stars shine through my curtains sheer
And let me know that God is near.
The brightness that creeps through my blinds
is a sign of all Devine.
So worry not,
lose no sleep,
God is with me in the night so deep.
I am content to know He is there.
He will protect me if I ask,
and do it well, till sunshine basks.
Tomorrow
Tomorrow is a day away.
I ask the Lord as I pray,
to help me see another day.
The Lord told me to do good deeds
and He will see to all my needs.
I know that when tomorrow comes,
I will seek out and help someone.
Because I love the Lord you see,
And He is very good to me.
Tomorrow when the sun breaks through
It will be a day for me to do
Good things for my fellow man
Just as the Lord did command.
I will arise from my sleep
and thank God for my keep.
I'll seek for someone to reach
with my actions or my speech.
God grant me help to find the way
to help someone get through today.
This is my prayer to God above
that I might touch someone with my love.
I do hope that when I have restless nights I can fill them with prose and delight. It is such a waste to fight sleep when there is so much else one can do to fill their loneliness. I have seen many troubles in my life but God has granted me a delightful way to cope with them. Maybe this will help some who have difficulty sleeping at night.
