If you're planning on a trip to Florida or live in Florida and are planning on enjoying some of the local events, here's a listing of some of the activities that you might want to include in your itinerary:
Cedar Key: Shopping & Seafood Festival:
This is an annual festival which will be on October 16-17 this year. This fishing village serves up the local seafood and will also have around 200 vendors and live bands.
Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party:
The Magic Kingdom is celebrating Christmas after hours from 7:00pm to 12:00m during November and December for selected days, this year. There will be parades, fireworks, goodies and shows. Check the website
for the specific dates.
Gaylord Palms' ICE:
Gaylord Palms stages a huge ice carving display/event during the Christmas season. You will find a life-size Nativity scene, a Christmas carnival with a carousel and you will also have the opportunity to interact with Santa's trip from the North Pole. There will also be outdoor ice skating, a gnome hunt and a weekend brunch with Mrs Claus among other specially planned events.

From November 16, 2010 to January 2, 2011 you can enjoy The Polar Express Experience, Winter Wonderland on Ice, Clyde and Seamore's Countdown to Christmas, A Sesame Street Christmas and Shamu Christmas Miracles as well as other specially planned events for this year's special offerings.
Nights of Lights-St. Augustine's Holiday Celebration:
Starting November 20, 2010 all the way to January 31, 2011 St. Augustine will be celebrating their annual Nights of Lights with the entire downtown area lit up with millions of Christmas lights.
In January, during the yearly Epiphany Celebration young men jump into the freezing Spring Bayou to fetch a cross that is thrown into the water.
Mount Dora: Antiques & Arts Festival:
This art festival has been going on yearly, in February, for over twenty-five years. Artists from all over the world come to this event. If art's not your thing, perhaps the shopping is since they have the huge Florida Village
Antique Mall which covers both antiques and a flea market. It's reputed as being one of the biggest in Florida.
Spring Break:
Spring Break tends to make Florida a very popular destination. This year, it appears that Spring Break may be scheduled between late February to early April. But you will need to keep checking for the specific dates for the individual locations in Panama City, Daytona, Miami's South Beach and the Tampa/Clearwater Beach areas since the time changes each year and the specific dates and listings aren't out, yet.
This very popular eighteen year old event takes place at Deerfield Beach every weekend from February 12 to March 13, plus February 14 and 21, this year.
Universal's Orlando Mardi Gras:
This very popular annual event usually runs every Saturday between February and April. This celebration also features a special concert series of popular music groups. Specifics aren't available yet for this coming year.
Plant City's Strawberry Festival:
Plant City is host to the internationally popular Florida Strawberry
Festival which is held every year in early March. This year it's March 3 to 13.
This event is listed in the top 30 of festival events in North America.
The theme is anything to do with strawberries plus a huge and very affordable
line up of some of the most popular rock/pop and country performers in the
country. For the first-come first-served some of the seats are free and the
rest are usually from $10 to $30 depending upon the act.
There's also a very popular carnival, all kinds of exhibits and competitions
as well as a wide variety of vendors and performers of unique items and acts
from all over the world.
This is a very popular event for motorbike owners and fans from all over the country. Often the participants will migrate over to Plant City for their third Saturday of the month Bike night. This year, it will run from March 4-13.
Miami International Film Festival:
The dates for the festival this year will be March 30 to April 3. The most popular films from all over the world are usually shown. There are no specific details available at this time.
Sebring's American Le Mans Series and Highland Fine Arts Festival:
Sebring holds their world famous American Le Mans Series, the Mobil 1 twelve hour endurance race at their Sebring International Raceway every March. Sebring is the winter home for Indy Car Racing.
In November, they host hundreds at their annual Highlands Fine Art Festival in the town circle.
Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival:
Disney's annual flower and garden show will run from March 2 to May 15 this coming year.
Amelia Island: History & Shrimp Festival:
The island hosts the annual Isle of Eight Flags Shrimp Festival in April. The festival is located along miles of white sand beach on the Atlantic, among resorts, golf courses, historical landmarks and antique shops and
boutiques.
Lake Placid: Murals & Caladium Festival:
This annual celebration is held the last full weekend in August. You will find, of course, the fields of colorful of caladiums and the over forty murals which cover downtown buildings. There are also arts and crafts vendors as well as the Car & Bike Show.
