Some New York City College Cafeterias Get Failing Grades

Don't Eat the Food!

Peter Flom
According to the New York Times, several college cafeterias in NYC received a C, the lowest grade, from health inspectors. They found unclean work surfaces, infestations of roaches and mice. At Pace University, the health inspectors took the unusual step of closing the college cafeteria altogether. That cafeteria go 79 violations, well over the 27 that give a college cafeteria or restaurant a C.

And some schools require students to purchase a meal plan. So, at those schools, you have to pay for them to serve you food that can make you sick!

I mean, college students are supposed to get sick from partying into the night, not from eating dinner!

The grades received by some college cafeterias prompted me to write this short poem

Well, college is in, and students are wailing
They shouldn't eat the food - it's failing!
Yes, cafeterias they shouldn't be trusting
'Cause some of them are just plain disgusting.
