Music is indeed the universal language and Iranian born Nazanin uses her music to speak to the world on subjects very close to her heart.
Born in Tehran amid political strife and revolution Nazanin was forced to leave everything and flee Iran with her family at the age of five while her father sat in prison awaiting execution by the Revolutionary Guard. Those events have shaped Nazanin's life. She majored in Political Science and International Relations at the University of British Columbia. As a teen she became a Royal Canadian Air cadet and achieved the highest rank possible of Warrant Officer First Class while obtaining her pilots license. And as the Miss Canada candidate in the Miss World pageant Nazanin won first runner up. Nazanin has used these and other opportunities to spread the message of human rights and humanitarian issues to the world.
And now with the release of her debut album Nazanin has found another outlet to reach the world her music. The opening and title track to the album "Someday" tells of her story from childhood. The songs chorus of "Someday we will find a way" is not only a haunting refrain that stays with you but is a recurring theme found in other songs on the album. Nazanin repeats the title song at the end of the album only she sings it in English and Persian. Among the pop tunes are songs of love, techno pieces and "Goleh Sang" is a piece that hints of her Middle Eastern roots with strong classical piano sounds similar to the dances of Franz Listz.
The only negative is that with such a beautiful voice the listener may become wrapped up in the music and forget the message Nazanin wishes to convey.
