But had the power to make some cry.
Through good times and bad,
I never saw a tear fall from his eye.
A man whom I respected
Who had a kind and loving heart.
Someone who could be trusted
To finish things he would start.
This is someone I called uncle,
Even though he was not a blood relative.
I see his family still growing strong,
Because in each of them, he still lives.
I see his sons growing tall
Looking more like men every day
I see his wife moving on
Not letting grief get in her way.
I knew him all of my life
And I often visited his house.
He was an all around swell guy
One who no one saw as a louse.
I can't begin to imagine
The pain his loved ones must feel.
But I know that it must be hard
To come to terms with his death being real.
I don't know what it's like to lose a husband,
Nor what it's like to lose a dad.
But something that I know for sure,
Is that it has to be painful and very sad.
I know that it's been a whole year
Since you lost someone so dear to you,
But I wanted to express my sympathies and ask
If you'll let me know if there's anything that I can do.
