Something Everyone in Arizona Needs to Know: Mythic, Rex Swift, Buyout of State Government
The Mythic Corporation, Headed by CEO Rex Swift, Plans on Taking Over the Arizona State Government, and You Don't Even Know About It!
This plan could change the way Arizona does its' business forever. Let's take a look at some of the things the Tucson Weekly reported, to get an idea of what this deal would mean.
Health Care:
The company plans on saving Arizona a truck load of money on healthcare. How are they going to do it? Apparently by bussing people to Mexico to receive care. One of the pluses sited was that it will help us deport those illegal immigrants who take up so much of our state money. Isn't it nice to know that the state will provide a free ride to Mexico whenever you are ill.
Transportation:
Mythic is further proposing that Arizona save money on transportation by making our interstate highways, toll roads. This means any time you want to travel these roads, you will have to pay for the privelige. It is reported though that this would come along with a tax decrease on gas. Apparently Swift believes that Arizonans don't deserve a "free ride".
Education:
It seems that Swift has really big plans for Arizona's education system. His plans would include assessment tests to place children, and this is nothing new. However, what is new are the programs they would then be put into. Some of them are computer programming classes, where the children would produce software, apparently for sale by Mythic, and used to generate revenue for the company. Other programs would include such activities as assembly work where the children would produce goods at a price comparable to third world nations of the world. This is all in the good name of job placement education, of course.
Prisons:
Prisons would clearly be used as cheap labor camps, with many plans in the works for prisoners to provide labor for many of Arizona's future building and service plans. They would apparently be run for profit, much like in the movie Death Race.
State Parks:
Mythic also seems to have great plans for our state parks, besides leaving some of them open, for paying customers, The rest would be used as beautiful places to build homes. Yes, it seems they plan on turning our state parks into new housing developments for the wealthy.
Universities:
To fix the current funding problems at our state universities, Mythic and Swift have another plan. They want to fund the science and medical studies with federal grants, increase the revenue producing sports programs, and cut the liberal arts programs. Seems to me this aspiring journalist is going to have to move out of state for his education.
Welfare Programs:
Looks like Swift and Mythic have this one licked as well, there's no getting one over on these guys. The solution they have reportedly proposed is quite simple. Put those who are in need of benefits to work in the Department of Economic Security. Of course that means they will have to lay off those who already work there, but that's ok because they will have to go back to work to receive their unemployment, that way they can train the rest of those who are receiving benefits, for a fraction of what they currently make.
This article is just a short synopsis of what I learned in the Tucson Weekly article. Please, if you live in Arizona like I do, find out as much as you can about this proposal, and do everything in your power to inform the people so that we can put a stop to this madness.
