Something Old is New Again November 13 at Cedarville Opera House
The Brothers & Co. Entertainers Variety Show Hits Greene County
Cedarville, OH 45314
United States of America
Common in the 1960s and 70s, the variety show has almost gone out of style, but not with The Brothers & Co. Entertainers. Nicknamed The Boys in Black, because of their old-style Western costuming, the Jamestown-based group will cover a variety of music in rich, four-part harmony. The show includes fan favorites by George Jones, The Statler Brothers, John Denver, the Everly Brothers and many original pieces.
In addition the show includes interactive variety and comedy routines. Award-winning classic magic by Fairborn bass singer Jim Karns will leave audiences speechless. Pianist and vocalist Gery L. Deer is a world-champion whip artist who performs in film and television, including shows like The Bonnie Hunt Show and America's Got Talent.
Guitarist and song writer Ed Jones, of Cincinnati, and Jamestown lead singer and percussionist Gary Deer, Jr. complete the quartet's unique sound. As a tribute to Gary Sutton, Sr. and Jess Young, two of the founding members of the band, the black, formal western costumes are still used though the boys now play a wide range of music from country to oldies.
The musical history of the family dates back nearly a century to a small county band in southern Ohio. Two generations later, the tradition is carried on with something extra for the entire family.
"Our show is a unique and entertaining blend of music and comedy with something for all ages," said musical director Gery L. Deer. "There is nothing like this on stages anywhere and we do our best to give the audience a memorable evening."
The band's unusual adventures aboard their tour bus, nicknamed Noah's Ark, have spawned a series of stories titled The Adventures of The Brothers & Co. available to read free online. Downloadable podcasts, videos and music samples are also offered free of charge.
