Patriotic Breakfast 4th of July

Come early and spend the day in Rockford Illinois for a family friendly action packed holiday that begins with a patriotic breakfast at Sinnissippi Park, along Hwy 251 in Rockford Illinois. The breakfast will be free for the first 1000 people arriving, and is scheduled to start at the band shell located in Sinnissippi Park, on the west side of Hwy 251.

The breakfast is sponsored by Christian radio 91-WGSL in Rockford, Illinois, and there will be a key-note speaker with expertise in national security and foreign affairs, Lt. Col. Robert Maginnis.

After breakfast, enjoy the beautiful Sinnissippi gardens on the west side of the highway, and visit the recreational path that leads north. If you packed your bikes or roller blades this will keep you busy for hours, as the path winds through parks and residential areas as well, along the scenic Rock River, with landmarks and several places to take nature photos, and some prairie land as well. You can stop at one of these parks for a delightful picnic lunch, or even navigate to one of the great local area restaurants to enjoy lunch!

Suggestions on hot lunch spots along the recreational path include Figli's at East and Riverside, for a great family lunch, Italian style, or a hot pizza. American cuisine is also served. Stop by Alvarez restaurant at East and Riverside if you have a taste for Mexican cuisine. These are only located a few blocks to the east of the recreational path in Loves Park, and they would be glad to have you stop in! When you reach Martin Park, they are within a few yards! Another suggestion is the newly opened Tad's which is located directly on the bike path, however you must access it by going under the Riverside bridge. Tad's just opened to business recently, and is one of the very few riverfront access and boat access bar and grills in the surrounding area! Nice to sit along the river and enjoy a beer!

After lunch, start thinking about heading downtown for the fireworks display. The fireworks will start at 9:30pm, but you may enter Davis park at 6:00pm, for a fee of $6.00! There will be several vendors there in the event you are still hungry, however you won't be if you stop at one of the recommended lunch spots! You may also see the fireworks for free along the bike path, especially if you follow it to the YMCA and choose to watch from there or move closer south and west.

Enjoy your Fourth of July safely and conveniently in ONE place! Rockford Illinois has a great family oriented day for you. See you there!
