Something to Talk About #2

More Stuff to Talk About

Feeling left out of the conversation. Don't just sit there bored to tears and let others steal the limelight from you. At the first lull, when big mouth stops to catch his breath, jump in, change the subject, and wow them with these conversational gems.

The Fabulous Number #5 -- Write down a number from 1-10. Double that number. Add 10 to your new number. Divide that new number by 2. Finally, subtract your original number that you started with. Your answer will always be 5.

Is Justin Timberlake the new Frank Sinatra? Most of us are too young to remember Frank Sinatra (Old Blue Eyes) in his prime, but the man was Mr. Show Business for more than 50 years. Although he never succumbed to Rock and Roll and 60's folk music, his romantic, soulful ballads set the standard for pop singers.

Both Sinatra and Justin Timberlake started out in boy bands, the Hoboken Four and N'Sync. Both participated in kid variety shows -- ..Sinatra, the Major Bowles Talent Show, and Timberlake, the Mickey Mouse Club.

Both these skinny, young, blue-eyed white boys went solo relying on African-American artists such as Quincy Jones, Count Basie, Pharrell, Timbaland to inject crossover soul into their music.

Both have had their share of famous female hook-ups, from Ava Gardner, Mia Farrow, to Britney Spears and Cameron Diaz. Both have reputations as "lady killers". Sinatra's "Wee Small Hours" and "Cry Me a River" still soothes broken hearts.

Sinatra conquered the movies in comedies and drama. He won an Oscar for his performance in From Here to Eternity in 1953. Timberlake has already shown himself a talented up and coming actor and comedian.

He is the best thing that's happened to SNL in years. His Robin Gibb in the Barry Gibb talk-show sketch with Jimmy Fallon, and his portrayal as one of Beyonce's back-up dancers in mini-dress and high heels during her "Single Lady" performance are hysterical..

JT has that "world on a string" cool attitude like Sinatra that works. The young pop star even dresses in "Rat Pack" skinny ties, 3 piece suits and fedoras. He does everything effortlessly.

Movies are JT's priority these days, but he already owns or partly owns a fashion line, a restaurant, and a golf course. His entrepreneurial skills are not unlike Sinatra's Las Vegas ventures.

Will Justin Timberlake be the new "Old Blue-eyes"? Looks like he is on his way.

Your brain shrinks as you age. Brain size starts to shrink in early adulthood and speeds up after age 60. After age 60 we all lose about .5% of the brain's volume each year. Brains with Alzheimer's shrink twice as fast. In general you have fewer brain cells than you did in your youth.

Some reasons why our brain shrinks include lack of exercise, drug use, lack of vitamin B12, obesity, stress and excess alcohol consumption. In fact the more alcohol consumed, the smaller the brain.

But, there is some good news. Despite the shrinkage, areas of the brain dealing with cognitive thinking, memory, and attention are slow to shrink and daily walking can actually prevent and reverse brain shrinkage.

It's never too late to develop a healthy lifestyle and your brain will thank you.
