Son Down

Bob Langham
We had most of our furniture from the family room stored in the garage while we had workers replacing the tile floors in our house. My son was out in the garage with the dog hanging out since there was not much to do indoors while all of the tile work was in progress. I heard him yelling "DAAAAD!" which isn't unusual for him. It could have been anything from he's caught in a bear trap, to he wants me to bring him a drink of water. I went out to the garage in no real hurry and I heard him continuing to call me but I couldn't see him and his voice was muffled and distant. I discovered that he had fallen off of the arm of the couch and into a pile of empty storage boxes and he could not get out. He said he had been yelling "Dad!" for a long time. All total, the boxes probably weighed 32 ounces, compared to my son's substantial 1,120 ounces. The family dog was resting comfortably on the couch near where my son had had fallen from (or been pushed?), looking like I had some nerve disturbing his nap to rescue my son from his cardboard prison. I just looked at the dog and said "Great work Lassie." Who needs a hobby or cable TV when you have a 6 year old for entertainment?
