Sonetto Per Nonna

"Sonnet for Grandma"

Too Faced
Stepping closer to the darkness, I sigh
Leaving all the deafening noise behind.
No worries for me, I'm ready to die.
As I depart I share some thoughts of mine.

She is barely here with the ones she loves.
She hears the words of poems we read to her,
Now she's flying on wings of an angel above,
The thoughts she's now thinking must be a blur.

The morning sun rises up in the sky,
Shimmering, brings the smell of flowers.
The birds sing and chirp, she's saying goodbye
Angel fly her to heavenly towers.

A smile I give you to remember,
Gone from this world, but with you forever
