As reported the other day by Yahoo! Contributor Network's own Julia Bodeeb, a great number of today's hottest music stars have donated songs to create the digital-only album, "Songs for Japan." The. compilation features 38 songs by some of the world's greatest musical acts and all proceeds go to the Japanese Red Cross Society's earthquake/tsunami relief efforts.

Several live versions of pop classics were donated to the effort, as well as original hits by major artists like Bruno Mars and Katy Perry. Lady GaGa has offered up a special version of her latest hit, "Born This Way," for the set. The entire album is on sale at the iTunes Store for just $9.99. Here's the full track listing:

This is not the first time musical artists have come together for humanitarian causes. In 2010, a live recording of a telethon to help those in Haiti who were ravaged by the earthquake in that country was put up for sale as a digital album. "Hope for Haiti" featured recording artists such as Alicia Keys, Coldplay, Stevie Wonder, John Legend, Mary J. Blige, Christina Aguilera, Taylor Swift and a whole host of others. Proceeds from both the telethon and album, which went to several foundations providing relief in that disaster, set records in raising over $58 million. You can still purchase that album here.

"Songs for Japan" is only available as an entire set and the cost is well worth the price and the cause. Go to the iTunes Store here and pick yours up today.
