Songs for Memorial Day

Here are just a few songs that can be played on Memorial Day.

"Balled of the Green Beret" by Staff Sergeant Barry Sadler and Robin Moore is a good one. It will make you cry every time you hear it.

"God Bless the U.S.A." by Lee Greenwood is probably the most famous and well known song played on Memorial Day.

For a haunting and chill producing song try "If You Are Reading This" by Tim McGraw. You will not regret playing this song.

Try the first gold record ever awarded in Country Music in 1944. It is "There is a Star Spangled Banner Waving Somewhere", and it is by Elton Britt.

Johnny Cash, "The Man in Black", has a song called "Ragged Old Flag", and it has a lot to offer for Memorial Day.

Another good one that has a little humor added in is Toby Keith's "Courtesy of the Red, White, and Blue". This song lets other countries know exactly what the U.S.A. will do if they mess with us.

Of course, how could anyone leave out the famous "God Bless America". There are numerous people who have sung this song. Just pick your favorite singer, they have probably sung it also.

Another song that just about everyone knows and has sung is "The National Anthem". Again, your favorite singer has probably sung this song also.

The composer of "Annie" and "Bye Bye Birdie, Charles Strouse, composed a song for the Commission which is the Commission's Memorial Day Anthem. It is entitled "On This Day". This is a great song for memorializing our fallen heroes.

And last but certainly not least and who could ever forget this one "The Star Spangled Banner" by Francis Scott Key can never be left out of a list of songs for Memorial Day.

May God bless all of our soldiers and their families on Memorial Day and always.

If you do not cry and get chills when you hear Tim McGraw's "If You Are Reaing This", well, there is something wrong.
