Sonicare Flexcare with Sanitizer Review
A Thrifty Mom Review of the Philips Sonicare RS930 with Sanitizer
I purchased the Sonicare Flexcare on a whim. I was so sick of the battery operated toothbrushes with their ever dying stream of power and wanted something that would not pieter out after a few weeks. I was drawn to the flexcare because it not only offered a sanitizer, but five different brushing routines.
I was not drawn to the price. I thought $179.99 for a toothbrush was ridiculously expensive. I didn't know how I could justify spending that much on a toothbrush. then I looked at the box. I read about the sanitizer that is included and how it kills 99.9% of germs with the ten minute sanitizing cycle you use after every time you brush. Now I am not a sucker for very many things, but I remember an experiment my roommate in college did on the amount of germs a regular bathroom has, and it was not pretty.
The thought of being able to brush my teeth without the fear of germs on my toothbrush head from people flushing the toilet without putting the lid down beat out my normally thrifty gene. I also liked the fact that you only replace the head on this toothbrush twice a year as opposed to four times a year with the other brands.
PROS
There are five different brushing cycles. There is the one minute go care, three two minute cycles such which include a clean, sensitive, or massage cycle, and the master of all clean cycles, the three minute Max-Care cycle which offers two minutes of clean and one minutes of massage. This gives you the option of how much or how little you want to clean your teeth. I love the two minute cycles, but it is really something that you have to work up to if you aren't used to brushing your teeth for two minutes straight.
The toothbrush actually teaches you how to brush your teeth. It divides your mouth into four sections and the toothbrush actually clicks after every fifteen, thirty, or forty five seconds, then you simply move your mouth to the next section. I love it!
The toothbrush is small and easy to carry with you while traveling. It has a lovely little travel case and the body of the toothbrush holds a two week charge. You won't be sanitizing, but I guess those are the breaks.
The sanitizer is amazing. It is a ten minute UV sanitizing cycle. I love the fact that the brush head is safe secure and sanitized from all of the bathroom germs. Look at the Philip's website Germshappen.com to see what I mean. This is especially great during cold and flu season. If a family member has norovius or e. coli at least you know your toothbrush is safe.
The just fresh from the dentist clean feeling after every brushing is so nice!
CONS
The price. Lets face it this is one costly brush.
The toothbrush is a little overpowering at first. It takes some time to get used to it. I felt like it was just whipping toothpaste around my mouth for the first week until i got used to its power.
I do highly recommend this toothbrush if you can afford it. It is definitely worth the money in the long run as it will teach you to have better oral hygiene habits and hopefully less cavities.
