Sonnet 1 - Dichotomy

Jolynne M Hudnell
Your touch is like the moon beams on my skin
'Tis never known in glaring light of day
As gentle moonlight shine in sun grows thin
The dawn arrives, adieu its tender way
Your brushed caress comparable to this
Though longer lasting than the waning night
Not cool to hold, you're dark's sweet tender bliss
Your love's soft glow extends life-giving light
But flames grow from the stir your glow provides
Unlike the moon you set my heart ablaze
Your eyes the color of cool sea and tide
Can quench the fire within my amber gaze
So you can build the flames consuming me
And drown me in the quiet of your sea

Magnificent blending of language and flowing lyrical imagery.... And some folks feel that set poetic forms (like the sonnet) are somehow limiting! Hogwash.

Ah Love. This sounds like it could be the sonnet my dear lady would have written a few years before she wrote the one I created.

Hi Jolynne - this is such a stunning sonnet. I read it several times simply because I love the way it sounds! You are obviously a master at this! Hope things are well with you! :)
