Sonnets

Patricia Mitchell
Strength and Grace

Our eyes meet every day in plain sight

I blush as I see I'm invisible

You are my hero, the soldier of light

You are an intense individual

Around you is an aura of good will

You strike my heart in the cruelest of ways

When you cannot see me frozen and still

I often weep at the sadness of days

Each day I say that I will be so brave

To finally approach you in pure joy

But each day I seem to dig my own grave

My mind changes and I am ever so coy

One day I will meet you with strength and grace

Because that is what I see in your face

Oh Sirius

He used to reside in a strange prison

For a horrible crime that he didn't do

Now since the dark lord has again risen

He had to restart his cursed life anew

As a young child he only wanted more

His family began to hate him so

Because he was sorted in Gryffindor

The only Black to do that, don't you know?

He was a marauder, a trouble seeker

He was mainly valued, so sorely prized

That the Potters wished to name him keeper

He did find himself pleasantly surprised

Would I be the only one filled with glee

If his middle name was actually Lee?
