Sounds extremely silly, I know. But shopping was never a strong point of mine. It took me a while to understand that buying a great camcorder has a lot to do with features and functionality. Camcorders are much different than cameras. Capturing moving targets takes a camera like the Sony 4GB Handycam Camcorder, in my opinion.
What I found appealing about the Sony 4GB Handycam Camcorder
What I found appealing about the Sony 4GB Handycam Camcorder was the price. Out of all the camcorders I had seen, I was rolling past $300 , $400 camcorders. This may not be high to some but it wasn't apart of my budget so I wasn't ecstatic about the prices I was seeing. The Sony 4GB Handycam Camcorder shocked me because first of all it was a Sony and Second of all it was small. Most small gadgets run a bit pricier than other electronics because they are much more convenient to own. For $269 I was walking up out of Best Buy with my on high resolution camcorder.
The Second thing that I found appealing about the Sony 4GB Handycam Camcorder was the ability to zoom in on objects up to 60x optical/2000x digital zoom. I've always been infactuated with digital zoom and use it whenever I get the chance to. But I've never experienced a camcorder that was able to actually handle digital zoom the way the Sony Handycam did. A lot of the cameras that I've had in my past had a big problem with keeping images clear even after zooming in on them. So this was a different experience for me.
The third thing I found appealing about the Sony 4GB Handycam Camcorder was that I was able to buy a portable DVD burner and hook It up directly to my Handycam. Now that was the coolest thing I had ever seen. I didn't have to wait to get home to burn my movies, I could burn them on the fly. That is way past just being convenient.
What I didn't find appealing about the Sony 4GB Handycam Camcorder
There was one thing that I wasn't all that happy about when it came to the Sony 4GB Handycam Camcorder. There is this face indexing feature that comes on the Sony 4GB Handycam Camcorder that isn't all that easy to understand. Call me slow, stupid or whatever but I'm still trying to figure out how to index faces on my camcorder. I already thought the idea was silly but once my husband explained to me what it was for, I wanted to actually try it out. It's a bit confusing and hard to master and I'm getting to the point where I can do without the feature really.
The only other thing I have to complain about is the button features. I think that they should be a little bigger for better operation. Other than that there isn't much more I can say negative about the Sony 4GB Handycam Camcorder.
My conclusion?
It's pretty simple what my conclusion is. If you want a camcorder that is going to give you great image resolution, awesome functionality for a low price then this camcorder is right up your alley. It may be cheaper than the rest but sure doesn't operate cheaply.
