After the blogosphere got a preview of the Cyber-shot T-series, without any formal announcement from Sony, following Sonystyle Canada's inadvertence in posting information about the new Cyber-shot T-series on their website, Sony formally announced Tuesday, the launch of their new line of Cyber-shot digital cameras. Two cameras will join Sony's Cyber-shot T-series while the other is a compact camera that has a 10x optical zoom. Joining Sony's T-series line are the DSC-T200 and the DSC-T70, while the DSC-H3 will join Sony's H series of "super-zoom" digital cameras.

Sony's new Cyber-shot T-series camera has touch screen and a new smile shutter function. Both models offer 8 megapixel and Carl Zeiss optical zoom lens. The DSC-T200 and DSC-T70 follows the ultra-thin, light and compact form factor of the T-series and the touch screen controls allows for a more accurate focusing of photo subjects. The DSC-T200 and DSC-T70 can offer full HD viewing through a separately sold HD cradle.

Sony also added new features on their new T-series, including a Photo TV HD mode which, according to Sony, can bring the look of actual printed photography to the TV. Another new and innovative feature on the new Cyber-shot T-series is the smile shutter function.

Sony stated that the smile shutter function detects when a person is smiling and automatically takes the shot. The DSC-T200 has a 3.5 inch 16:9 wide LCD screen, 5x optical zoom, face detection, and will be offered in silver, black or red. The DSC-T70 on the other hand, has a 3 inch 16:9 wide LCD screen, 3x optical zoom, face detection, and available in silver, black, white or pink colors.

The 8-megapixel Cyber-shot DSC-H3, on the other hand, sports a Carl Zeiss 10x optical zoom and a 2.5 inch LCD screen. The DSC-H3 also allows for high definition output through the HD cradle and also has the "Photo TV HD" mode. Other features of the DSC-H3 includes a long range flash, face detection, an advanced sport shooting mode, optical image stabilization, ISO up to 3200, red eye correction and photo retouching effects and filters.

According to Sony's press release, the Cyber-shot DSC-T200 and DSC-T70 will be available in September for $400 and $300, respectively. The Cyber-shot DSC-H3 will also ship out next month and has a tag price of $300. Sony stated that pre-orders for all 3 digital cameras will begin on August 23.

Canon, Sony's number one competitor in the digital camera line, has previously announced their new line of digital cameras in Canon's Japan website, though a formal English announcement has yet to be released.
