Features
The Sony HDR-TD10 3D Camcorder won the 2011 Popular Science award for "Best of CES" for it's glasses-less 3D technology. It is the first camcorder to be capable of recording 3D in full 1080p high definition. With 64GB of built-in flash memory it is capable of recording up to 25 hours of 2D video, and 5 hours of 3D. This camcorder is top-of-the-line in terms of video quality and available features. If you're looking for a camcorder which will still be considered high tech a few years from now, this is definitely the way to go.
The Sony HDR-TD10 3D Camcorder has dual wide angle pro-grade Sony G lenses which are capable of 10x optical zoom even when in 3D mode. The dual lenses are what record in 3D, recording at the same time from slightly different perspectives, similar to how your own eyes operate. The Dual "Exmor R" CMOS sensor provides superb recording quality in low light situations. Optical SteadyShot image stabilization delivers smooth video when recording in both 2D and 3D, so don't worry if you've got shaky hands while trying to record that ever-important moment, or while speeding along in a rocky boat. If you want to take still images, the camcorder can do so with 7 megapixel resolution. Not bad for a camcorder.
View the scene as its recorded or view content afterward with the 3.5" LCD screen. This screen is capable of viewing content in 3D. If you have content you've recorded in 3D but want to view it in 2D that is possible as well. The LCD screen also comes with TruBlack technology. This piece of technology provides high contrast and brightness to the LCD screen. It comprises of a special thing layer of resin on the screen, and delivers natural realistic colors. Plus it reduces glare. If you have a 3D HDTV you can use the 3D-ready HDMI cable that comes with the Sony HDR-TD10 3D Camcorder and port your content to the TV. If you do this, you would need to use the glasses that come with the TV to view it in full 3D 1080p.
When it comes to sound, audio is captured capable of playback on a Dolby Digital 5.1-channel Surround Sound system. Any camcorder can be played on a system like this, but content recorded on this camcorder will be specially oriented to play on the different speakers to truly capture the moment and take advantage of the surround sound capability. In terms of recording there is a Wind Noise Reduction feature which does just as it says, limit the amount of wind noise that tries to make its way onto the recording.
Some of the more basic features include a microphone and headphone jack. The microphone jack is excellent if you want to attach an external microphone to capture higher quality audio. The headphone jack is great if you want to view previously recorded content but might not be in a situation where blasting sound is appropriate. Think watching a recorded football game at a dance recital. The Sony HDR-TD10 3D Camcorder is compatible with Memory Stick PRO Duo, SD, SDHC, and SDXC memory cards.
Accessories
There are a number of accessories for the Sony HDR-TD10 3D Camcorder. First is the LCS-U30 carrying case. It is a sturdy case that can easily fit the camera and accessories due to the 3 side pouches available. It also comes with a shoulder strap so you have options in how you want to bring it along.
If you want extra batteries there are 2 options, and both are rechargeable lithium ion. The first is the NP-FV70 which would be an exact duplicate of the battery that will come with the camera. If you want a batter that has a longer lifespan, then go with the FV100. This battery will last nearly double as long as the FV70.
The AC-VQV10 is an AC Adapter/Charger that is a welcome addition to anyone's arsenal. If you lose your charger or just want a second one, this would be what you'd get. If a travel charger is more your thing, then you're looking for the BC-TRV Travel Charger. The outlet prongs fold in when not in use and make it easy to slip into a suitcase, or the LCS-U30 carrying case.
Lastly, there is a tripod designed to work very well with the Sony HDR-TD10 3D Camcorder. The VCT-80AV is that tripod. Not much to say about it. It extends to 6 feet, and will securely hold the camcorder so you don't have to worry about it falling off.
Cost
The retail price is $1599.99. It is easily available for $1499.99 on many websites, and can be found for as low as $1449.99 during in-store sales.
