The new Walkman video players are the NWZ-A810 and NWZ-S610 series. According to Sony, their new Walkman players have a standard user interface to make it easy for users to interact with the device. The Walkman video players have Quarter Video Graphics Array (QVGA) screen. QVGA, according to Sony, is a display mode designed for small screens wherein the usual resolution is 320 x 240 pixels. Sony claims that their new Walkman device can display videos at 30 frames per second.
Brennan Mullin, vice president for audio products in the Digital Imaging and Audio Division at Sony Electronics said, "Our Walkman products offer great resolution, a bright screen, high-quality sound and a long battery life. We are providing our customers the choice to use multiple music sources."
Sony further claims that battery life for the NWZ-A810 series is eight hours and nine and a half hours for the NWZ-S610 series in video playback while if only using the device for audio playback, battery life can last up to 33 hours for both devices.
As posted on the SonyStyle Store, specifications common to the NWZ-A810 series include: 2.0 inch QVGA display, MP3, WMA, AAC-LC, Linear PCM audio format compatible, 20 - 20,000Hz Frequency Response, 5 band equalizer, supports MPEG 4 and M4V video formats, JPEG playback, supports stereo min-jack headphones, USB 2.0 compatible. According to Sony, the NWZ-A810 series will come in 3 models; the NWZ-A815 has a 2 GB capacity and will be available in white, pink, black, blue and silver colors, the NWZ-A816 has a 4 GB capacity and white, pink, black and silver colors and the NWZ-A818 has 8 GB of storage capacity and will only be available in black and silver colors.
Specifications common to the NWZ-S610 series include: 1.8 inch QVGA display, FM tuner with 87.5 - 108.0MHz frequency range, 5 band equalizer, supports MP3, WMA, AAC-LC, Linear PCM audio format and MPEG 4 and M4V video format, and also supports USB 2.0
