I just wished they included the PS3, & HD video recorder in it too because $3,500 is a steep price to pay for a non pc, no games, no video recording, no monitor, & a lot of other 'NO'. *chuckle* The even stranger thing about the Sony HES-V1000 Blu-ray Server is that it's a Profile 1.0 player, a little less new than the Profile 1.1 player, which offer advanced new features such as PiP commentaries & many more! Would you not find it strange to pay $3,500 for a device that lacks the features of a sub $1000 Blu-ray disc player?
No, not enough new technologies & performance for its extravagant pricing. Perhaps it does look like a collector's item deserving of a place in the best art galleries of the world but in homes of average income folks, it won't be a normal thing to see in the living room. The Sony HES-V1000 Blu-ray Server is a not bad media center without the PC but the stupendous price makes it a very bad idea. You would expect the remote controller to be at least made of solid gold. A more concise review of the Sony HES-V1000 Blu-ray Server can be found on HomeTheatherMag.com.
