Sorry, Blame it on Me by Akon

R.A. Riter
Sorry, Blame It on Me was a song written for the re-release of Akon's second album called Konvicted. This song was written by Akon and Clinton Sparks. This was released as the album's fifth single. In February 2007, this song leaked onto the internet several months before it was planned on being released. Therefore, Akon put it onto this Myspace. On July 17, it was released officially released to iTunes. It reached the top spot as a digital download on two different occassions. A week later, it was released to the radio. This song was then released to the United Kingdom as a digital download on October 8, 2007 and later as a CD on October 29, 2007. It debuted as a top ten single on the Billboard Hot 100, starting off at spot number seven. However, it did not advance up the chart higher than this. This song runs 4:57 long.

A reason this song was written for the re-release was due to the lyrics included. During the song, Akon lists off various apologies for events in the past. One of the incidents included was when in 2006, he engaged in sexual actions when a fourteen year old went onto the stage of a 21+ concert. He ended up apologizing for this incident in the last verse of the song. On August 8, 2007, the music video for this song was first played. It was added to YouTube two days later and has been premiered on Yahoo! Music. This song was released after the song Speaker, but before the song Sweetest Girl (Dollar Bill). Overall, six songs from this album have been released.

This song performed well on the charts in the United States as well as around the world. It reached as high as seventh on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 as well as the Pop 100. It also reached fourth on the Bubbling Under R&B/Hip-Hop Singles. It was also able to crack the top ten of three other charts around the world. It placed as high as second on the New Zealand Singles Chart, sixth on the Swedish Singles Chart, and seventh on the Irish Singles Chart. It also reached as high as tenth on the French Singles Chart.
