You can cry out to God in many different settings in many different ways and He will always come to your rescue. The Bible tells us that God is an ever present help in the time of need. Ever present! It also tells us that He will never leave us nor forsake us. Often it is a struggle to believe that God is right there with us in our time of stress.
You are not alone. God is with you. He created you and He designed you. He knows you better than you even know yourself. He loves you even more than you love yourself. He doesn't despise you for your mistakes or condemn you for your sin, instead he covers you with the sacrifice of Jesus and He beckons you to be His friend. (Romans 5:18)
Here are some ways to handle those emotions that come with desperation and stress, and even sickness' associated with high levels of anxiety:
Daily Set Aside A Time of Rest In God's Presence: Set apart fifteen minutes at least once a day. Put on soft Christian music, dim the lights (Some artist suggestions and songs: Jason Upton: All Music, Chris Rice: I Need a Hero, Ronnie Freeman: Satisfied).
Get comfortable: Position yourself in a kneeling position or a reclined position. Invite God to come and meet you in this time. Spend this time resting in God and let Him fill you back up with encouragement and faith.
Have a journal and a pen with you. Journal the soft voice of God. As encouragement comes write it down. As you rest in God draw or write down any pictures you may see in your mind. You may see yourself resting in the sun. Rest in the sun, enjoy that time and then after right down the experience so that you can later go back to that and see if there is anything further that God is saying to you.
If a scripture comes to your mind look it up. Read it softly out loud. Read it as a prayer back to your Lord. Journal what you believe God is sharing with you. Repeat this as often as needed. Spend as long in His Presence as you would like.
You will find that God will meet you. He will refresh you and encourage you. God is greater than the trials of life. He is greater than sinful habits, He is greater than natural situations that appear hopeless. He is our ever present help in a time of need. He is our victorious King...and He never loses a battle. Invite Him to fight for you. Consider this scripture: Exodus 4:4 The Lord will fight for you, you need only to be still (NIV). The Lord will fight for you....this is supernatural help from heaven.
In the stillness in you will hear the voice of God, experience freedom from unhealthy emotions, gain courage, obtain wisdom from the scriptures that He gives you. These are just a few of the benefits of spending this time in God's Presence. Praise the Lord oh my soul, and forget not all His benefits!! (Psalms 103)
