Soul Silence

Soul Silence

Outward
Bones appears calm -
an ancient figure
of the meditating monkdom
he is become, motionless
but for the faint twitchings
of fading toxins.

Bones so calm - almost
hiding the roiling,
seething, storm
within.

A thousand feelings, thoughts,
questions screaming words -
he cannot say a word.

There is a place
he might speak - speaking
meaning the undesired
pulling others close,
forcing choices - silence
offering their freedom.

Another place
he might say the words
in his heart - but he
is a man, men, according
to the myth, do not air
their feelings; 'sides,
those who would hear
would call him fool
in the end.

Other places
he might open the heart
vein and bleed the pain
like leechcraft of yore -
but that would bring pain
to One. The One he would,
will, never
hurt - no matter
how he hurt.

...and so he sits, listening
to the echoes of his soul
screaming silently.
