I'd ask for a soul that understood.
That understood how some live without electricity, plumbing,
air conditioning...
That understood in by keeping quiet one can say more
than in a million words
That understood the strange freedom in writing a song, or
singing one at the top of your lungs that you could have
That understood like me how mourning should never end
and that would let me cry
I am so sad. So sad without that ability.
My teeth grind jealously at the sound of his singing
Please stop me with some understanding, open soul
Right now a hug would be nice
and it would be nice to smile and want tomorrow,
accept today and be proud of yesterday
