Sources of Motivation for Weight Loss

Amy Brantley
You know you need to lose weight, but what happens when you lack motivation. For many, their weight remains the same or they gain even more weight. Motivation is key when losing weight. You have to want to lose weight in order to be successful in weight loss. This means you need to search out a motivational source to get you started and to keep you going. The following are some of the more common sources of weight loss motivation.

Children

Parents often have a hard time losing weight. This is no surprise when you consider how busy parents can be. Quick meals, full schedules and a constant desire to care for everyone but yourself can quickly make the pounds add up. What you need to realize is that these actions can set a bad example for your children. Not to mention that they can reduce the number of years you have to spend with your children. If you lack the motivation to lose weight, consider your children. Losing weight will increase the number of years you spend with them and will also help reenforce healthy habits so that they don't end up with a weight problem as well.

Blood Work

Chances are your doctor may have advised you to lose weight. That point doesn't usually sink in until people are faced with the cold, hard facts. Having blood work done can show you exactly what your weight is doing to your body. A general blood test that looks at cholesterol and sugar levels can be an eye opening experience that may just give you the motivation you need.

Special Piece of Clothing

Shopping for clothing can be depressing when you're overweight. You may long to fit into sexy outfits that will turn heads for all the right reasons. If this is the case, purchase a piece of sexy clothing and hang it where you'll see it every morning when you get dressed. A piece of clothing can be a great source of motivation for overweight women.

Pictures

There are times when overweight people avoid mirrors as much as possible. Knowing what you look like can be a great source of motivation though. Taking an honest picture of yourself, that shows all your flaws may offer the motivation you need. Hanging the picture on your refrigerator works as a reminder of why you're trying to lose weight and eat healthier.
