To a great extent, much of the woes that Haley will face in 2011 come much to the misgivings and shortsightedness of former Gov. Mark Sanford's final budget cuts. When Sanford released his $5 billion budget proposal last week, it came at a time where social services in Horry and Georgetown counties will feel the immediate impact of his budget cut proposals.
Budget making decisions will be the main focal point of Haley's undertaking in 2011, in addition to dealing with redistricting in South Carolina . According to Columbia legislators, "the budget this year is down from 7.1 billion two years ago." Upon these findings, the state has no more wiggle room, the affect of these budget cuts paint a dismal future for state agencies, and schools in the Carolina 's.
Gov.-elect Haley will have to work very closely with senior South Carolina legislators in order to find ways to balance the budget, without digging deeper into cutting social services, and limiting arts and athletics in South Carolina schools. Gov.-elect Haley has determined that Marcia Adams would be the best choice as the next Chief of Staff of the South Carolina Budget and Control Board. Gov.-elect Haley's formal announcement to nominate Eleanor Kitzman as her Executive Director is a step to work expediently to fill vacancies in her administration. Gov-elect Haley and the Board of Administrators will have their first official meeting on Thursday, January 13.
Gov.-elect Nikki Haley has gone on record about her concern pertaining to President Obama's Health care Plan; it is unclear whether she will support the president in policies that will facilitate the growth of South Carolina . In Light of the budget crisis that Gov.-elect Nikki Haley and her administration will face in 2011, ultimately will depend on how well she can balance the budget, and ways that she can produce new opportunities for the state of South Carolina . Gov.-elect Nikki Haley has the opportunity to move the state of South Carolina away from the chains of debt, and work with legislators to improve the quality of life for all residents of South Carolina .

Thanks, great information.
Unfortunately S.Carolina will take the path of balancing the budget on the backs of those least able to raise up and complain. The poor, elderly, students, the sick , and other less fortunate people will suffer. Illinois had the courage to raise taxes hopefully other states will follow their lead.
