I am a voter in South Dakota and I can tell you that I have voted for John Thune in the past. The reason I have done so is because of his stance of fiscal responsibility. According to his website available at http://thune.senate.gov/public/ he believes that the federal government should be required to balance the budget at the end of each year. He is in favor of requiring the government to balance the budget and this would mean lower taxes for the citizens. I would love to have lower taxes and spending is out of control, if he can sell votes on the fact that Obama has spent too much money on War, as has GW Bush then he will get their vote. He has also pledged to support any legislation that supports funding for schools in need of educational materials. Energy is another one of his strongest positions because he introduced the Energy Independence and Security Act in 2007 and it requires the use of renewable fuel in the United States fuel supply. This will stop us from sending money to Countries overseas and provide from more jobs within the United States. This will stimulate the economy as more renewable energy is used and more employees are needed.
According to his website available at http://thune.senate.gov/public/ he also supports legislation with the purpose of cutting off the flow of illegal immigration. He believes we should then dealing with the immigrants that are already here. He believes that small businesses and families should keep more of what they earn and this will lead to spending and eventually grow the economy. He also believed in increased competition in prescription drugs and this will result in lower healthcare costs. He also supports telehealth and believes this will help to save customer money and protect their wallet. I disagree on the telehealth subject because it will be very difficult for patients to get quality health care through talking to a doctor through a chart room or instant message on AIM, Yahoo, Ichat or Meebo. Thune is considered to be like Obama because he is very educated and young but he has a lot more experience in government than Obama did. He will not come across as fresh like Obama did but he has great ideas for change that Republicans will love. I believe he has a good chance of winning the Republican nomination in 2010 but he most likely will not defeat Obama in 2010 because history shows that the incumbent usually wins the race.

Post a CommentI wouldn't vote for Thune for President if he were running unopposed. He has no more idea about how to advance this country than do most Republican party
WAGS. I suggest you think twice before buying his (and the party's) line.
