April 26, 2008, the wind blew through Morristown NJ and in the streets were Morris County Young Republicans, going from one fine establishment to another for the Annual South Street Stroll. They started off at the Dublin Pub on Pine Street, a warm inviting pub that has its roots in Ireland. With wood paneling and a fine selection of beers, and of course Guinness, it was the perfect start to a fun event. I enjoyed catching up with old acquaintances and met new friends and the event was casual and relaxed. The emphasis wasn't just on the drinks though. MCYR provided some appetizers. And the conversations were definitely political sometimes. But when with friends, it is not a heated debate.

We stayed for about an hour, and then convinced everyone to depart and go to George and Martha's down the other block. With people immersed in conversations and catching up, it was a pleasant day to unwind after a busy week. George and Martha's was a bit more modern with lighting emanating from floor and web cam providing shots on the internet. The atmosphere was lively, as forty Yrs congregated along the long bar. There was appetizer served for the Young Republicans including onion rings and artichoke dip with tortillas. The bar would have been quiet if it weren't for us coming by, and it was a friendly, atmosphere.

Then the crowd moved to Grasshopper, a fine establishment and the socializing went on and on. Since I wasn't drinking, it was nice that someone bought me a seltzer and cranberry juice. And we discussed politics in a different location once again. There was even a game of darts going on against a physicist and a paralegal. The physics teacher won, but it was a good game.

Finally when I got to Muse on the main avenue, I was tired and grumpy. I had a bowl of lemon soup and decided I was too tired to make it to The Famished Frog, where we usually met. So I bid my farewells and headed down the road to Schuyler Place parking garage, and drove home. It was fun and I got to meet up with old friends and discussed my possible role as being secretary for the club. Muse was a lot of fun but I had been there for five hours in Morristown and just wanted to sit down and relax. So all in all I thought the South Street Stroll was a lot of fun.
