Southaven Springfest in Mississippi 2009

Southaven (MS) Springfest 2009 is scheduled to take place April 24th - 26th, 2009. This year marks the 29th annual celebration of spring for the city of Southaven. Springfest will take place at Snowden Grove in Southaven. Snowden Grove is located on Getwell Road, just south of Goodman road. Parking is available at Snowden Grove park. Tickets are $5 for children 6-10 years of age, and $10 for everyone over 10 years old. Children under 6 are free. Tickets for entry that include concerts (see below for more information) are $15.

Every year, the Southaven Springfest features night time concerts with known bands. This year, on Friday (April 25th), Aquanet kicks off the evening concert at 6:30 PM. Aquanet will be followed by Gabby Johnson at 8 PM, and then by Collective Soul at 9:30 PM. Saturdays music line-up is as follows - Billy Grantham will take the stage at 6:30 PM, followed by Eric Church at 8 PM and Chris Cagle at 9:30 PM.

Other activities that will take place at the 2009 Southaven Springfest the Miss Southaven pageant, a bar-b-que contest and several rides, games and activities for the children. The Miss Southaven pageant's time has not yet been announced - but it is generally on Saturday. Contestant forms for the Miss Southaven pageant can be found and downloaded from the Southaven Springfest 2009 website, located at www.southavenspringfest.com.

As mentioned previously, another event that the Southaven Springfest is known for is their bar-b-que contest. Every year, the best cooks in the area compete for the top prize at the bar-b-que contest. The grand champion of the bar-b-que contest will bring home $1,200 as the prize. The contest is divided into areas of competition - pork whole hog, pork shoulder, and pork ribs. Each of these categories will have a top winner that takes home $1,000, and 4 runner-ups that each take home nice prizes as well. In addition to the pork contest, there are also areas of competition in poutlry, beef and seafood (each have a prize of $150) as well as sauces, beans and desserts (each have a prize of $50). The Southaven Springfest has been a fun time that is enjoyed by individuals and families for 29 years now. With all of the rides, activities, music, etc, 2009 will prove to be yet another wonderful time for families to experience the fun at the Southaven Springfest.
