Here are some great ideas on things to do to celebrate our nation's birthday in Southeast Michigan my favorite holiday!!! The 4th of July is the best time of summer to get out and do something fun outdoors with your family and friends!! Every 4th of July we head up north to our cottage on Wixom Lake near Midland Michigan to celebrate with a bang. There are lots of fun things to do including firework shows put on by the various cities, independent fireworks you can watch from your backyard or out on the boat in the middle of the lake. It is such a wonderful time and spending it with family and friends puts a smile on my face just thinking about.
Not everyone can get away over the 4th of July so here are some of my favorite fun fireworks ideas for you if you are staying home in Southeast Michigan for the 4th of July!!
1) International Freedom Festival Fireworks - These take place over the Detroit River in Downtown Detroit. You can view them from either side of the river either in Windsor Ontario or various locations in Detroit. Check out this website for more information http://theparade.org/freedomfest/.
2) Freedom Hill Fireworks - These are at the Freedom Hill Amphitheater in Sterling Heights Michigan on Wednesday the 4th of July. The cost if free to attend yet you have to pay $5 to park. These are always a great time.
3) Comerica Park - They have fireworks after every Tigers game at Comerica Park on Friday and Saturday nights throughout the summer with this exception. The Tigers will have a firework display following their game against the Cleveland Indians on the 4th of July. Here is there website to check out how to get tickets to the game. You can view the fireworks without even going to the game just being downtown near the park you can watch them as well. http://detroit.tigers.mlb.com/index.jsp?c_id=det
4) St. Clair Shores - These fireworks are in Memorial Park off of Jefferson road in St. Clair Shores on Friday June 29. These are some of my favorite fireworks right on Lake St. Clair and it's like a f air there is a DJ with a dance floor and all of the vendors and fun that you would normally find at the fair minus the rides!!
These are just a few of my favorite fireworks to watch. Here is a website you can check out to find out what other fireworks are in your town. http://www.michiganfireworks.com/ It's a great website which gives you the dates, locations, and websites to find out more information. Have a fun 4th of July it's my favorite holiday maybe it's yours too!!
