Southern Barbecue Sauce Recipes

Barbecue sauce is a valued southern tradition. Try these tasty southern barbecue recipes for a tangy treat! Great for meat, fish, pork and chicken.

Jack Daniels Barbecue Sauce (20 cups)

1 gallon vinegar
1 cup margarine
1 (2-ounce) bottle of Tabasco sauce
2 (18-ounce) bottle honey barbeque sauce
2 (14-ounce) cans tomato sauce
2 tablespoons crushed red pepper
1 tablespoon black pepper
½ cup Jack Daniels whiskey

Pour the vinegar and whiskey into a large saucepan and bring to a boil. Add remaining ingredients and mix well. Simmer over low heat for 15 minutes, stirring. Makes 20 cups.

Southern Barbecue Sauce (1 cup)

¼ cup Worcestershire sauce
¼ cup packed brown sugar
¼ cup vinegar
¼ cup water
1 teaspoon chili powder
¼ cup catsup

Combine all ingredients in saucepan and bring to a boil, stirring occasionally. Pour over chicken, meat or pork 30 minutes before cooking is done. Makes 1 cup.

Easy Southern Barbecue Sauce

1 bottle A-1 steak sauce
1 bottle catsup
¼ cup Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon minced onion
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 tablespoon honey

Combine all ingredients in a large container, mix well, and refrigerate until needed.

    I love BBQ Sauce as long as it's not too smoky and salty. My favorite is any from Famous Daves, or the sauce from Dreamland in Tuscaloosa, AL.

    there is a Kansas City style of BBQ-- it's very good!!! although like "southern" BBQ sauce, it varies depending on who makes it. :) jeffrey
