Southern Style Memphis Dry Rub

Herbs and Spices Just Right for Seasoning the Perfect Barbecued Meat

Beverly Hobbs
This dry rub is great on meats that are going to be prepared either by smoking or grilling. I prefer to put the rub onto the meat the day before I am going to prepare the meat. I usually put the dry rub onto the meat and then refrigerate it overnight.

If there are spices you prefer or spices you don't care for, feel free to play with the recipe.

Ingredients:

2 tablespoons smoked paprika or chipotle chili powder

1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

1 teaspoon white pepper

2 tablespoons brown sugar

1 teaspoon kosher salt

1 teaspoon onion powder

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1/2 teaspoon dry mustard

1 teaspoon seasoning salt
1/4-1/2 teaspoon cayenne powder

Directions:

Mix all ingredients together in a bowl and rub onto meat.
