"God Calling" Message Essay for August 30, 2010

The message in God Calling today is about giving and giving generously of everything I have. It reminds me that even a thought is something to be given. You may never know what the smile you gave to someone might have meant to them. The three or four minutes of friendly conversation you gave to someone on the bus this evening might just be what makes him/her decide that maybe life isn't so bad after all and he/she will hang in there for awhile longer. He or she may have been planning to go home and end it all that night.

When we give of time, of thought, of love, we're giving spiritual things because we are spiritual beings. Also, we aren't just giving love. We are sowing God. God is love. We reap what we sow. Want more of God in your life? Sow God, reap God. "Seek first His Kingdom and all these things will be added unto you", said Jesus. This message makes that a little clearer. Sow God, reap God...Sow God, and reap more God. Reap more of God-what's not to absolutely LOVE about that deal? More of You, Lord! Yay!

We need to remember to include ourselves in our giving, our sowing. "The good man out of the good treasures stored up in his heart brings forth good, and the evil one out of the evil stored up in his heart brings forth evil. We need to sow God into our hearts and into our lives, and we need to sow generously and lavishly. One of my favorite things is praise. I love to listen to praise music, and I love to write and sing praise music. I love to praise the Lord. God inhabits the praises of His people. Every time I listen to, write, or sing praise music to the Lord, I'm sowing His presence into my heart, my spirit, my atmosphere, and ultimately my world-because what goes in comes out.
