Soy Harmful for Men? Not so Much!

SDR2010
There has been a good amount of debate recently about the effects of soy in the male body. Soy has long been thought of to be a great substitute for regular milk. Soy provides the benefits of stronger bones, muscle repair and protection against prostate cancer. Soy is also used by diabetics as a substitute for regular milk in order to raise blood sugar without the intake of unneeded carbohydrates. This helps in the process of losing weight and reducing carbohydrates for better health in both males and females according to an article posted on Buzzle. There was a study conducted recently by the University of North Carolina on the effects of soy on the male body.

The study feed very large amounts of soy to males in order to see what would result from this large intake of soy into the male body. Soy contains isoflavones and this produces estrogen in the female body. Men that consumed three quarts of soy milk a day and nipple discharge and enlarged breasts resulted. Your testicles will not shrink from the consumption of soy and minimal effects were found with doses that were 30x the normal amount of soy for the average person. The article states that researches went out of their way to have males in the study consume as much soy as possible, this is not a normal use of soy for the average person and you would probably never be in the position to consume that much soy. It also states that there are protective benefits against prostate cancer that are observed in males that are older than 60. The intake of 1/3 cup of soy would provide your body with many benefits that could provide a longer and better quality of life for the average person. However, eating raw saw has been shown to be harmful in horses and can also be harmful in humans so stay away. If you are someone that enjoys soy than you are safe to do so regardless if you are a male or female. Consumption of soy in the amount of 1/3 cup a day will benefit you and if you are not drinking this amount of soy you should make an effort to come closer. Minimal effects were shown within the population of the study despite the large amounts of soy they were given. Soy is great for good health so make an effort to drink more soy daily.
