Soyatoo Rice Whip comes in a can similar to normal canned spray whip but the instructions, in comparison to other spray whips, are a bit annoying. It takes a bit of preparation at first to spray the whip out the first time. I was a bit annoyed because it said to let the sit for about 10 minutes to warm up enough to shake the content. 10 minutes! But, I wanted whip cream on my ice cream right then, not 10 minutes later after the ice cream was melted into soup.
I did find later, after the initial spray, I did not need to always set it out first. I just had to shake it really hard to get the rice whip inside moving. Do make sure it is shaken and you feel the whip inside moving because otherwise you will spray out nothing but air and end up wasting most of what is inside.
Once you figure out the mild issues of getting it to spray properly it sprays out beautifully. The whip sprays out firm and adds beauty to any dessert.
Soyatoo Rice Whip in a can is unusual because it caters to those who are not only vegan and/or lactose intolerant but also to those with soy allergies. The whip is made with a rice milk base instead of soy milk base. The only downfall is you can taste the rice. It has a very mild ricey taste.
The Soyatoo Rice Whip is not as sweet as I would like it to be. It has the same smooth creamy texture you get with other spray can whip products but just a slight rice taste and not much sweetness to add to the taste and feel. It is just a little dull on its own without the extra sweetness I think it should have. I noticed that the rice flavor was more predominant when I ate it straight out of the can but barely existed when I topped it on dessert foods.
A complaint I have is them recommending it to be stored upside down. I have no problem storing it upside down but you would think that if that were their recommendation that they would make the cap flatter and more upside down storing friendly. I have to prop things next to it to keep it up in my fridge, otherwise it falls on its side. I do keep it in the door, but if you have room elswhere it does stay upside down easier.
The ingredients are free from dairy and soy: Organic rice milk (water, organic rice syrup, organic rice starch, organic rice flour), coconut oil, organic maltodextrin from rice, tartaric acid, carageenan and gum arabic (thickeners), sea salt, propellant (nitrous oxide).
All in all I would purchase this product again but only when it is greatly on sale. At over $5 for a can it is rather steep for an amount I feel doesn't last that long. I would recommend Soyatoo canned Rice Whip to others but would make everyone aware it has a slight rice taste which could turn off some if they aren't aware of it and are expecting the exact same taste of dairy whip.
