SpaghettiOs Recall Announced Due to Underprocessed Meatballs

The Campbell Soup Supply Company, LLC, is recalling 15,000,000 pounds of SpaghettiOs with Meatballs. The product originated from Paris, Texas.

These products may have under-processed meat. This is considered a Class I Health Risk. According to the United States Department of Agriculture's Food Safety Inspection Service, also referred to as FSIS, a Class I Health Risk is declared when there is a reasonable probability that a product can cause serious health issues or death. A link to the report issued by FSIS is below this article.

Consumers often feel as long as they thoroughly cook a product that has been recalled, it will be safe to eat. This is not the case, and SpaghettiOs that are part of the recall should not be eaten. Products recalled may be returned for a refund. To date no illnesses have been reported because of the recalled SpaghettiOs.

The recalled SpaghettiOs were distributed throughout the United States. The products involved in the SpaghettiOs recall are all in 14.75 ounce cans and include the following:

SpaghettiOs A to Z with Meatballs with the code 4 N on the bottom of the can.

SpaghettiOs with Meatballs with the code U5 on the bottom of the can.

SpaghettiOs Fun Shapes with Meatballs (Cars) with the code KS on the can.

The recalled SpaghettiOs were made between December 2008 and June 2010. All items will also have the establishment number EST 4K, and a use by date of June 2010 through December 11 on the bottom of the cans.

It is reported that a routine inspection by the company found the issue. A later check by FSIS confirmed the problem. Those with questions about the recalled SpaghettiOs may reach someone at the Campbell's Hotline number: 866-495-3774.
