Study English to Speak Like An American

Study the English language every day until you understand it. If you are able to use computer software, cd's or other audio learning devices it will be helpful for the correct pronunciation of words. Play the word or sentence and then repeat it. Try to make your voice sound more like the one you are hearing each time. Keep repeating the word until you are confident that you have pronounced it correctly.

Practice To Speak English Like An American

Practice speaking English every day. Every where you go, every thing you do, speak English. Talk to the person in front of you at the grocery store, even if it is only to say hello. Talk to your co-workers, talk to your boss and everyone else you see during the day. Don't give up, no one expects you to sound perfect immediately. Say hello to everyone you meet.

Talk With Friends To Speak English Like An American

Ask friends to come over and practice with you. They can give you advice and tips on how to correct the problems that you are having. Ask them to be honest, so that you can get right to the changes that need to be made. It is best if you have some friends that are native English speakers, but if not, it is still good to get together as a group to practice and talk to each other.

Many English language learners to home and fall back on their native tongue to speak to their spouse and their children because it is easier. It may be easier, but it does not help you practice your English.

Always speak English to your family, it will help their English as well. You will have plenty of time to speak your native language when you are visiting your native country.

There are some people that have only been in America for one year, but their accent is already gone and it is impossible to tell that they are from a foreign country, there are other people that have been in America for fifty years and no one can understand them because their accent is so thick. If you want to become a better speaker, you will need to practice.

Once you have learned to speak English like an American, you will be more confident and it will be easier to get things done because everyone will be able to understand you.
