Spearmint Floss Review: Tom's of Maine Spearmint Antiplaque Flat Floss

This Floss Turned Out to Be Great and I Am Glad that I Got It

I am a little bit embarrassed to say this but I wasn't regularly flossing like I should have been. I'll admit, and this is not a good excuse, I thought that it felt uncomfortable and was constantly putting it off. Now of course I was brushing my teeth on a daily basis, and more than one time a day, but I more or less was skipping flossing. Another reason that I wasn't making more of an effort to floss was because I didn't replace it when I ran out. Wanting to start regularly flossing again I scanned the different flosses available and noticed some Tom's of Maine Spearmint Antiplaque Flat Floss. I was quite familiar with the Tom's of Maine company because I was currently using their Apricot Flavored Toothpaste and had been using their toothpastes for many, many years. Here is what I thought about their floss.

It turned out that me and this floss did not get off to a very good start. When I saw the floss it was on a little display and the price read seventy-seven cents for thirty-two yards. That kind of length would lasts me a few months. I thought that I could clearly afford to get this and even if I hated the floss it wouldn't be a huge loss. When I got home though and looked more closely at my receipt I noticed that I was charged two dollars and seventy-seven cents. I was rather frustrated as I really didn't want to go back to the store to take back the Tom's of Maine Spearmint Antiplaque Flat Floss, as I needed floss, but wondered if I was correctly charged as well. This dilemma left the floss untouched until I could sort out the cost. The next time that I went to the store I completely forgot to bring back the floss but I did notice the display again and discovered the price sticker was folded over the side to fit and the number two, representing two dollars, was in fact in front of the seventy-seven cents. The more I thought about it though I didn't mind, I was happy to be getting something from the Tom's of Maine company. Now back home I opened the floss hoping that it would work well.

The Tom's of Maine Spearmint Antiplaque Flat Floss seemed like your average flat floss. After brushing my teeth I went to tear off a bit of it and the floss began to fray. I didn't blame this on the floss, I assumed that it was because I wasn't paying attention like I should have been when I tore it. To be fair I tore a second piece carefully lining everything up appropriately and it tore fine and didn't fray at all while I was flossing. The spearmint taste was good but not too overwhelming. At the end of flossing I didn't really taste it anymore and I didn't feel as though I needed to brush my teeth, as I do after chewing spearmint gum. The taste actually was nice because I could focus on it and not on the act of flossing. All in all the Tom's of Maine Spearmint Antiplaque Flat Floss turned out to be great. Since the container of floss contained thirty-two yards of floss I had a feeling that it would be some time before I would need floss again. I calculated that a foot of this floss is only a few cents so it really isn't a bad price at all. At this point I see no reason not to get this same floss again when I run out.
