Special Day's and Event's at the Indiana State Fair - 2010

Actually, everyday of the fair is a special day. There is always something going on all over the fair-grounds, every single day for about 2 weeks. This year, the Indiana State Fair is from August 6th to the 22nd. To get inside to the fair activity, it'll cost you some bucks, but it's well worth it!

Admission into the fair is Adults - $8, while kid's 5 and under, are FREE. There are things that can help you get around, once you get on the grounds. Strollers for the little one's are $9 for the day. For the Toddlers, and those walking but can't all day, there are the 'little red wagons' for $13 for the whole day.
For the senior set, there are wheelchairs at $15 for the day. And Electric carts for $45, for the day.

The Gates open at 8 am. (Aug 14, opens at 6 am.) Closing time is 9 pm Sunday to Thursday, 9:30 pm on Friday and Saturday. There is just way too much fun going on to list here.

August 6th is Opening Day. This is a big day for the fair. Opening Ceremonies start at 8:30 am in the Dow Agro Science Celebration Park. Also, the St Vincent Health Day, put on by the St Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. Their "Prevention Parkway" will be on the State Fair Blvd for screenings and Health information. The 9th Annual Tobacco-free Day is also this day, visitors are encouraged but not forced to not smoke on this day even though most people are outside.

And of course, who can forget the Midway rides at any fair, large or small. Midnight Madness in the Midway starts at 7 pm to midnight, unlimited rides for $25. (this does not go on every night)

August 7th is Ball State Day. Exhibits and information from and about Ball State University will be scattered around the fairgrounds. There will be Pig Racing at the Side Lot next to the Grandstand at 10 am, Noon, and again 2 pm, 4 pm, and 6pm.

August 8th is Hispanic/Latino Music Day. There will be music at the Free Stage all afternoon from Noon to 8 pm.

August 10th is Turkey Hill Dairy Day, and $2 Tuesday. Get into the fair for only $2 with a voucher from the Turkey Hill Dairy website. $2 Food Specials and $2 on selected Rides on the Midway. If you like
Roller Derby, the Naptown Roller Derby Girls Bout is at the Grandstand, FREE admission at 7 pm.

August 12th is Hoosier Heritage Day. Activities planned through out the fairgrounds 9 am to 9 pm. Learn about Indiana's past, present and future. It is also State Employee Day, State employee's get into the fair free, with State I.D.

August 13th is Purdue Day. Exhibit's from and about Purdue University on State Fair Blvd. Be sure to visit the Worlds Largest Drive-thru Breakfast for just $3, on Main St from 6 am to 8 am. Then there will be a Hot Air Balloon Glow at 8:45 pm in the fairgrounds, at the Best Way Disposal Infield.

August 14th is Lottery Day. If you're 18 and over, you can redeem your admission ticket stub for 1 FREE lottery ticket. Hot Air Balloon Races at 6:50 AM in the Best Way Disposal Infield. Because of this, the fairground gates will open at 6 am.

August 16th is BMV Carload Day. 10 people - 1 car/van/truck for only $15, with voucher from mybmv.com Kid's day. Lot's of fun stuff for the kid's around the fairgrounds all day long!

    Might make it this year, the $2 entrance fee on Tuesday sounds good if it weren't suppossed to reach almost 100 degrees that day. Good summary!
