Special Events at the New York City Comptroller Office

I have a suggestion for people of New York City to attend some great free special events each month. These events are special award events ceremonies sponsored by the City of New York City Comptroller William Thompson Jr special events department. Here is why I'm suggesting it and what the details are.

First, Comptroller William Thompson Jr. honors different members of the New York City community with awards for their outstanding leadership. He honors people from all types of background with these awards. The award benefactors can range from civil service, entertainment people, religious people or writers. He recently honored the writer Walter Mosely and former mayor David Dinkins wife for Black History month along with six other great people. He usually gives about six award and tells the audience a summary of the award recipient accomplishments. Then he gives them the opportunity to speak. It is great to hear briefly about award recipients accomplishments and then get inspired by all they have done in their field.

Comptroller William Thompson Jr award events always have a different theme each time. He has a Greek Heritage month, an Irish special event and a Women's Heritage month events coming up very soon. Some of these events take place at City Hall, or the Chamber Surrogate Court Building or in the nearby downtown Manhattan area. The event location depends on the crowd that is expected. If you attend an event at City Hall or the Surrogate Court Building use this great opportunity to see the beautiful agriculture and building structures of these beautiful decorated places.

Each event always has some form of entertainment that happen at the second half of the event. Comptroller Thompson usually has school children or inspirational chorus singers participate in the events by singing some songs.

Also, after each event there is a buffet style food that reflects that the nature of the event. The recent Black History Month celebration had soul food. The food was catered by locale black restaurants. This is a great way to also try some locale soul food that taste great.. Some restaurant that donated food to the Black History event were Amy Ruth and Sylvia. There is always plenty of good food available. Sometimes there is so much food that you can get seconds You can eat a great meal and also get the chance to mingle and ask questions of the award winners. This is also a great networking opportunity to talk with some great leaders of the New York Community in a very friendly casual environment.

This is a nice way to spend an evening. You can learn some new things about the leaders of our communities and relax and have a nice meal too. Come down and enjoy this free event with your friends and family. It's great if you can bring young people along with you and get to listen to some of these great award winners words.
