Special Moments in Time

Back down memory lane

I remember

A time when the sweetest thing could drive me insane

I remember

When I would take every word of wisdom in vain

I remember

When we thought that Santa Clause actually came to the ghetto

I remember

When we thought that we could make anything edible

I remember

Now think about how simple life was, when we thought that time actually stopped when we were having fun

And that "the real thing", was a water gun.

Remember when getting revenge on your sibling meant packing their bed with legos?

Remember when we were never afraid to leave our comfort zones, or had to worry about twenty five broken bones?

That was the time when we would play games, and get mad at first when he would win

But always seem to be just fine with him in the end

That was the time when, every kid knew every parent, neighbor, and every other kid's best friend

It was when, being a blood brother meant that we would be friends until the end

And your Nintendo games you were never afraid to lend

To your friend

Leaving in horrible fear that you would never see them again

Wait... remember the block parties?

That got everyone in your world together.

Where they never argue about frivolous matters like parking spaces, or whose child bruised up the other's children's faces

Or what about them late night foot races,

Where we could run so fast, we would leave our shoe laces.

And I know you can't forget about how we thought that only the bad guy or old people could die

And when they were ready, they would come to you in a dream to say good-bye.

Let's just stop and think about the simplicity of innocence,

about how we solved all our problems in a primitive sense.

Think back to when time itself, moved so slow, yet so fast, past father time, himself.

Remember when we thought that gunpoint was a place we could actually stay away from?

Be for real, don't play dumb.

Remember way back, when we thought, out of mind, out of sight.

Those were our special moments in time, right?
