Special Mother's Day Gifts for Mom

Who says you have to shelve out heaps of money to make someone happy? Okay, I know we all beam with joy at the sight of an expensive gift but sometimes the best gifts are those that are free. Yes, free and one which comes straight from the heart.

This mother's day, surprise that special woman in your life by doing something memorable for her. Here are some suggestions:

1. Bring her breakfast in bed

What a great way to start a day than being served breakfast in bed by the person you love. Cook her favorite breakfast, it's also a good time to use that expensive china and don't forget to add a touch of elegance by placing fresh flowers on a small vase.

2. Volunteer to run errands

Mother's do a thousand and one things everyday, they seldom have days off and don't get paid for working over time at home. Give her some extra time to spend at her leisure by volunteering to run some of her errands for the day.

3. Volunteer to do some of her usual chores at home

Your special lady will certainly appreciate a helping hand from you. Ask her if there's a chore you can help with, or better yet, just do it. Show some initiative and take over some of her daily chores around the house.

4. Give her a foot massage

Foot massages are very relaxing and quite simple to do. Use her favorite scented oil and rub her feet gently as soothing music plays in the background. I used to do this with my mom, it really helped alleviate some of the arthritis pain she was feeling and it gave us a time to bond.

5. Invite the rest of the family

This is the perfect time to invite the rest of the family over. Invite your siblings or other members of the family close to your mom and have a potluck dinner. Play some music, bring some enjoyable board games and look at your family album. There is no greater joy for a mom than to see all the people she loves and to know that they are all healthy and happy.
